Risk factors for coprophagia include:
(1) dementia
(2) intellectual disability
(3) severe psychiatric disorders
(4) fetish
(5) disorders of the central nervous system
Risk factors for asphyxiation:
(1) access to feces
(2) left unattended
(3) large fecal bolus in the laryngopharynx
