Beyer et al reported the COPPS (Chronic Pancreatitis Prognosis Score) for evaluating a patient with chronic pancreatitis. This allows objective monitoring of the patients and identifies patients who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from multiple institutions in Germany.
Patient selection: chronic pancreatitis
Parameters:
(1) numeric rating scale (NRS), a VAS scale for pain from 0 (none) to 10 (extreme)
(2) hemoglobin A1c in percent
(3) serum CRP in mg/L
(4) body mass index in kg per square meter
(5) platelet count in 10^9/L
