Description

LeWitt et al reported consensus criteria for a flare in patients with hidradenitis suppurative (HS).  Gaining consensus in hidradenitis suppurativa has proven to be a challenge. The autors are from multiple institutions in the United States and Europe.


Patient selection: hidradenitis suppurative (HS)

 

Criteria for flare of hidradenitis suppurativa - one or both of the following:

(1) new onset of clinical signs or symptoms (including appearance of a new lesion or reactivation at the site of a prior lesion)

(2) substantial worsening of clinical signs or symptoms with regards to existing lesions

 

Signs or symptoms include:

(1) pain

(2) draining

(3) subcutaneous abscess

 

Some suggested that the changes should be viewed as significant by the patient.
