Conjunctivitis and otitis can occur concurrently.

Clinical features:

(1) presence of a conjunctivitis

(2) presence of an otitis media


Siblings or contacts may show conjunctivitis and/or otitis media.


Cultures may isolate:

(1) Hemophilus influenzae

(2) Streptococcus pneumoniae

(3) other bacteria


Antibiotic therapy should be beta-lactamase resistant and systemic.
