Description

A man's penis may become shorter for a number of reasons.

Patient selection: documented reduction in penile length (flaccid, flaccid stretched and/or erect)

Conditions associated with shortening of a man's penis:

(1) radical prostatectomy

(2) radiation therapy and/or androgen deprivation for prostate cancer

(3) penile or perineal trauma

(4) Peyronie's disease or other condition associated with increased fibrosis

(5) some patients with erectile dysfunction

(6) surgical correction of a penile or urethral disorder

Differential diagnosis:

(1) pseudo-shortening due to obesity, with adipose tissue covering the root

(2) congenital micropenis

(3) inaccurate penile measurements

(4) imagined shortening (in the eyes of the beholder)
