Description

Lateral elbow pain may be caused by a number of conditions.


 

Conditions to consider when evaluating a patient with lateral elbow pain:

(1) lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow)

(2) joint instability

(3) epicondylar apophysitis (in adolescents)

(4) radiocapitellar bursitis

(5) forearm compartment syndrome

(6) disorder affecting the C6 root

(7) disorder affecting the radial nerve

(8) osteochondritis dissecans involving the radiohumeral joint

(9) osteochrondrosis of the radiocapitellar joint

(10) fracture (stress, other) of the distal humerus and/or proximal radius

(11) synovitis of the radiohumeral head
