A number of conditions can result in a uveal effusion within the eye.
Inflammatory conditions:
(1) ocular trauma
(2) uveitis
(3) sympathetic ophthalmia
(4) Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome (VKHS)
(5) scleritis
(6) infected or inflamed scleral buckle
(7) status post intraocular surgery
(8) status post panretinal photocoagulation
(9) HIV disease
(10) SLE
Hydrodynamic:
(1) nanophthalmos
(2) hypotony
(3) wound leak
(4) dural arteriovenous fistula
If no cause is identified then the patient is classified as idiopathic EUS.
