Certain conditions may be associated with development of a perforating dermatosis.
Conditions associated with a perforating dermatosis:
(1) familial
(2) chronic renal failure
(3) diabetes mellitus
(4) chronic active hepatitis or other chronic liver disease
(5) malignancy (as a paraneoplastic syndrome)
(6) hypothyroidism
where:
• Patients with autoimmune disease and diabetes often may develop hypothyroidism.
