Priapism may be associated with a number of complications.
Potential complications:
(1) erectile dysfunction
(2) permanent deformity
(3) decrease in penile size and/or tissue loss
Risk factors for complications:
(1) moderate or severe priapism
(2) recurrent disease
(3) delayed or inadequate therapy
(4) infection or other complications of drug injections
