Description

A midurethral sling procedure may be performed to relieve stress urinary incontinence in women. In most cases the procedure is successful, but some women may experience complications. Autologous fascia is being used to avoid some of these complications.


Complications of MUS using mesh:

(1) postoperative urinary retention or voiding dysfunction

(2) de novo urgency

(3) multiple urinary tract infections

(4) necrotizing infection

(5) erosion or fistula

(6) urethrolysis

(7) mesh removal or revision

(8) pain/dyspareunia
