Description

Constrictive pericarditis may be associated with a number of complications.


Complications of constrictive pericarditis may include:

(1) hypotension with low pulse pressure

(2) pulmonary hypertension

(3) renal failure

(4) metabolic acidosis

(5) hemodynamic instability

(6) right heart failure with congestive findings

 

Congestive findings:

(1) hepatomegaly with or without ascites

(2) splenomegaly

(3) protein-wasting enteropathy

(4) peripheral edema

(5) pleural effusion
