Description

A patient with an infected aortic aneurysm is at risk for a number of early and late complications.


Patient selection: infected aortic aneurysm

 

Early vascular complications:

(1) ischemic colitis

(2) anastomotic disruption

(3) peripheral embolism

(4) embolism to the anterior spinal artery with paresis

(5) rupture with shock

 

Late vascular complications:

(1) recurrent aneurysm

(2) limb ischemia

 

Infectious complications:

(1) graft infection

(2) peritonitis

(3) sepsis

 

Other complications:

(1) myocardial infarction

(2) multi-organ failure
