The competent person plays an important role in ensuring safety on the worksite.
Criteria for the competent person:
(1) designated by the employer
(2) able to identify existing and predictable hazards including:
(2a) unsanitary conditions
(2b) dangerous working conditions
(3) authorized to eliminate hazards by taking corrective measures
Tasks may include:
(1) conducting inspections of the worksite and protective systems
(2) planning risk mitigation strategies
(3) monitoring corrective measures and systems
