Description

Stellato and Paavonen developed a scoring system for grading cervical lesions seen on colposcopy. This can help identify lesions with condylomatous dysplasia. The authors are from the National Cancer Institute in Naples, Italy, and University Central Hospital in Helsinki, Finland.

where:

• Table 1 on page 298 is scored from 1 to 3, but on page 299 they mention a mean score of 2.3 for patients without CIN, indicating a 0 score for 1 or more of the parameters.

= SUM(points for all 3 parameters)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 1

• maximum score: 9

• The higher the score the greater the risk of dysplasia.
