Description

One way of classifying patients with the Staphylococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is by the clinical situation in which it is encountered.


 

Situations associated with the Staphylococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome:

(1) menstrual (occurring during or shortly after menstruation)

(2) nonmenstrual:

(2a) obstetrical (after abortion, vaginal delivery or Cesarean section)

(2b) surgical

(2c) burn

(2d) abscess or cellulitis

(2e) other
