Description

Territo et al identified a number of signs and symptoms associated with intussusception in young children coming to the Emergency Department. The authors are from Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo, D'Youville College and Pediatric and Adolescent Urgent Care of WNY.


 

Patient selection: 2 months to 5 years with intestinal intussusception

 

Clinical signs and symptoms:

(1) crying (odds ratio 3.3)

(2) palpable abdominal mass (odds ratio 15.7)

(3) pallor (odds ratio 6.5)

(4) vomiting (odds ratio 3.1)
