Description

Konopke et al developed a simple clinical score for evaluating a patient for survival after resection of colorectal liver metastases. This can help to identify patients who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from University of Technology Dresden in Germany.

Patient selection: colorectal cancer with liver metastases that could be completely resected while preserving nontumorous liver (incomplete resection of no clinical benefit).

Parameters:

(1) number of liver metastases

(2) serum CEA in ng/mL

(3) synchronous vs metachronous presentation of the liver metastases relative to colorectal primary
