Description

Tanaka et al reported clinical decision rules for disability at 6 months after a hip fracture. One model was based on information 2 weeks after surgery. The authors are from Hiroshima International University, Saiseikaikure Hospital and Chugokurosai Hospital in Japan.


Patient selection: hip fracture (proximal femur)

 

Outcome: activities of daily living (ADL) at 6 months after repair

 

Model: CART (classification and regression tree)

 

Parameters:

(1) chair transfer during second week after surgery

(2) ambulation during second week after surgery (0 immobile or less than 50 years; 5 wheelchair independent including coroners, > 50 years; 10 walks with help of 1 person; 15 independent with or without walking aid)
