Vitamin A deficiency may be associated with a number of clinical findings.
The most common finding are the ocular changes (xerophthalmia, night blindness, corneal lesions).
Extra-ocular manifestations:
(1) anemia
(2) wasting and growth retardation
(3) keratinizing squamous metaplasia of transitional and glandular epithelium
(4) follicular hyperkeratosis (phrynoderma)
(5) increased risk of infection
(6) increased mortality
(7) variable hearing dysfunction
