A patient with small bowel obstruction (SBO) may present with a number of signs and symptoms.
Signs and symptoms:
(1) crampy abdominal pain
(2) abdominal distention
(3) vomiting
Clinical findings:
(1) absent or high-pitched bowel sounds
Laboratory findings, which may be clues to complications:
(1) leukocytosis
(2) elevated serum lactate
(3) elevated serum amylase
