Coenzyme Q10 deficiency may be associated with a range of clinical findings that may be associated with the specific cause for the deficiency.
Renal findings:
(1) steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS)
(2) renal tubulopathy
Neurologic findings:
(1) encephalomyopathy
(2) cerebellar ataxia
(3) stroke-like episodes
(4) seizures
(5) dystonia
(6) spasticity
(7) migraine
(8) mental retardation
(9) sensorineural deafness
(10) peripheral neuropathy
Myopathy:
(1) myopathy with proximal muscle weakness and exercise intolerance
(2) hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Other:
(1) optic atrophy
(2) retinitis pigmentosa
(3) liver failure
(4) lactic acidosis
(5) severe infantile multisystemic disease
