Patient selection: aortic aneurysm

Clinical findings:

(1) fever

(2) pain (abdominal, back)

(3) chills

(4) sweats

(5) pulsatile mass

(6) hemodynamic instability

(7) rupture

(8) gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)

(9) peritonitis

Laboratory findings:

(1) elevated ESR

(2) leukocytosis (WBC count > 12,000 per µL

(3) positive blood culture
