A number of clinical findings can occur in a patient with a paravalvular leak associated with prosthetic valve.
Patient selection: paravalvular leak for a prosthetic valve
If the leak is small the patient may be asymptomatic.
Clinical findings associated with a significant paravalvular leak:
(1) congestive heart failure
(2) hemolytic anemia
(3) infective endocarditis with or without sepsis
(4) systemic thromboemboli
(5) myoardial infarction
(6) poor quality of life
