The MICRO Syndrome is a rare hereditary disorder that affects the eyes and other organ systems.
Inheritance: autosomal recessive
Clinical findings
(1) microcephaly
(2) microphakia (abnormally small lens)
(3) microphthalmia
(4) microcornea
(5) microgenitalia in males (hypogenitalism)
Other ocular findings:
(1) optic atrophy
(2) cataracts
(3) atonic pupils
Other findings:
(1) mental retardation and/or developmental delay
(2) cortical dysplasia
(3) hypotonic diplegia
(4) agenesis or hypoplasia of the corpus callosum
