Carney's complex is rare hereditary disorder with multiple kinds of benign tumors.
Inheritance: autosomal dominant
Genetic loci: 2p16 or 17q24, affecting protein kinase A, which acts as a tumor suppressor
Myxomas:
(1) atrial
(2) cutaneous
(3) breast
Hypermelanotic skin lesions:
(1) multiple lentigenes
(2) blue nevi
Endocrine tumors:
(1) adrenal cortex, with Cushing's syndrome
(2) pituitary adenoma, which can result in acromegaly
(3) Sertoli or Leydig cell tumors of the testis
(4) thyroid gland adenomas
Schwannomas
Differential diagnosis:
(1) LEOPARD syndrome
