Description

An overdose of an H1-receptor antagonist may be life-threatening.


 

Signs and symptoms of central excitation:

(1) excitement and agitation

(2) hallucinations

(3) ataxia

(4) uncoordination

(5) athetosis (involuntary, writhing movements)

(6) seizures

 

Atropine-like effects:

(1) fixed and dilated pupils

(2) flushed face

(3) sinus tachycardia

(4) urinary retention

(5) dry mouth

(6) fever

 

Rare:

(1) rhabdomyolysis

(2) prolonged QT interval

 

Terminal depressant effects:

(1) loss of consciousness with coma

(2) cardiopulmonary collapse
