Release of interleukin-6 (IL-6) is associated with a number of clinical findings. Release of other cytokines may contribute to the clinical findings.
Clinical findings:
(1) fatigue
(2) loss of appetite
(3) drowsiness
(4) dry mouth and/or dry eye
(5) sleep disturbances
(6) hyperalgesia
(7) psychological distress
(8) arthralgia and/or myalgia
Laboratory findings:
(1) elevated serum IL-6 concentration
(2) often elevation in the serum levels of other cytokines
(3) elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
