Certain clinical findings can help identify patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma who have a poor prognosis.
Risk factors for a poor prognosis:
(1) back pain
(2) rapid, nonintentional weight loss
(3) poor performance status (bedridden > 50% of day or incapacitated)
(4) liver metastases and ascites
(5) low serum albumin concentration and elevated C reactive protein (CRP) levels
