Cesium intoxication is uncommon. One source of cesium poisoning is cesium chloride taken as an alternative medicine in relatively high doses for a prolonged period.
Clinical features:
(1) hypotension and syncope
(2) gastrointestinal distress
(3) numbness
(4) tingling of the lips
(5) sudden cardiac arrest
Laboratory features:
(1) hypokalemia
(2) hypomagnesemia
ECG changes:
(1) prolonged QTc interval with or without torsade de pointes
(2) polymorphic ventricular tachycardia
