Buisson et al used magnetic resonance enterography to evaluation patients with Crohn's disease. They reported a score which can identify disease activity and which correlates with the MaRIA score. The authors are from Clermont Auvergne University in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
Patient selection: Crohn's disease
Examination: magnetic resonance enterography of the ileum
Parameters:
(1) ADC (apparent diffusion coefficient) in square mm per second
(2) wall thickening in mm
(3) ulcerations
(4) edema

Clermont score =
= (1.646 * (wall thickening)) + (points for ulcers) + (points for edema) - (1.321 * (ADC)) + 5.039
Interpretatation:
• A Clermont score > 8.4 was associated with endoscopic ulcerations (active ileal disease).
• A Clermont score > 12.5 was associated with deep ulcerations (severe ileal disease)..
