Jordan et al used classification trees to predict suicidal ideation for patients being seen in primary care. These can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from the University of Hamburg.
Parameters:
(1) feeling down, depressed, hopeless (PHQ8 item 2)
(2) trouble falling or staying asleep (PHQ8 item 3)
(3) feeling bad about yourself (PHQ8 item 6)
(4) not being able to stop or control worrying (GAD7 item 2)
(5) feeling afraid as if something awful might happen (GAD7 item 7)
(6) PHQ8 score (from 0 to 24)
(7) GAD7 score (from 0 to 21)
Items in PHQ8 and GAD7 are scored from 0 to 3 based on frequency of the symptom.
