Clinical features: genital edema with pain

hematocele or hematoma (trauma, bleeding disorder, etc)

prolonged erection

priapism

erythema and history of viral infection

viral orchitis

erythema with tenderness and/or induration

epididymitis or epididiymo-orchitis

sudden onset with absent blood flow to testis on Doppler ultrasound
|
torsion of the testis
|
sudden onset with abdominal pain and vomiting with normal testicular blood flow on Doppler ultrasound
|
incarcerated hernia
|
Additional diagnoses to consider:
(1) thermal or chemical burn
(2) venomous bite
(3) cellulitis, including Fournier's gangrene
