Fracture Location

Features

Type

proximal femur

often avulsion of the lesser or greater trochanter

I

diaphysis of the femur

about the prosthesis but not at the stem tip

II

diaphysis of the femur

fracture about stem tip, fracture does not propagate proximally with less than 25% of the bone-prosthesis interface disrupted

IIIA

diaphysis of the femur

fracture about stem tip, fracture propagate proximally with more 25% of the bone-prosthesis interface disrupted

IIIB

supracondylar fracture

adjacent to the tip of a long-stemmed femoral component

IIIC
