Description

The electrocardiogram of a patient with Brugada syndrome can be classified based on its features.


 

Leads: right precordial (V1, V2, V3)

 

Parameters:

(1) elevation of J wave

(2) T wave

(3) ST segment

>= 2 mm

negative

coved type and gradually descening

positive or biphasic

saddle-back and elevated >= 1 mm

The change must be present in more than 1 lead (2 or 3 of the 3).

 

Administration of a sodium channel blocker (ajmaline, flecainide, pilsicainide, procainamide) can result in changes in a patient’s type (Type 2 to Type 1, Type 3 to Type 1, Type 3 to Type 2).
