Description

Schenck classified a knee dislocation based on the disruption pattern of various ligaments. The type of dislocation can help to direct management of the patient.

Parameters:

(1) rupture of cruciate ligament(s), anterior and/or posterior

(2) rupture of collateral ligament(s), medial and/or lateral

(3) fracture

If there is injury of the popliteal artery then the suffix "C" is added.

If there is injury to a nerve then the suffix "N" is added.
