Description

Morphea (localized scleroderma or limited cutaneous scleroderma) was classified by Peterson et al into 5 categories.


Categories of morphea:

(1) plaque

(2) generalized (multiple indurated plaques)

(3) bullous

(4) linear

(5) deep (deep dermis and subcutaneous tissues)

 

Linear morphea involving the face includes:

(1) en coup de saber

(2) progressive facial hemiatrophy

 

If more than one type is present then the term mixed morphea is used.
