Classification of Paley for Congenital Short Femur

Paley developed a classification for congenital short femur. This is useful for planning the corrective orthopedic procedures.

Parameters:

(1) defect of femur

(2) knee joint mobility

(3) femoral head mobility

	delayed ossification	1b
mobile pseudoarthrosis (femoral neck)	mobile femoral head and knee	2a
	femoral head stiff or absent; mobile knee	2b
diaphyseal deficiency	knee partially mobile >= 45°	3a
	knee partially mobile < 45° or stiff	3b

where:

• Partial mobility of the knee in the figure is given as > 45° and < 45°. I made it >= 45° to cover the gap.
