Description

Meyerding graded the severity of spondylolisthesis based on the degree of anterior displacement (subluxation) of the L5 vertebral body. The author is from the Mayo Clinic.

Imaging studies: lateral radiographs of lumbar spine and sacrum

The distance along the cephalad aspect of the S1 vertebral body is measured and divided into quarters, starting from the posterior aspect and progressing anterior.

The posterior aspect of the L5 vertebral body is then compared to the cephalad aspect of the S1 vertebral body.

NOTE: This is equivalent to the percent slippage discussed in the previous section.
