Description

McBride and Danner listed disorders which may affect the ability of an infant to suck effectively. The authors are from the University of Rochester and Case Western Reserve University.


 

Sucking problems that may occur in neurologically impaired infants:

(1) impaired sucking reflex

(2) hypotonia of the sucking muscles

(3) decreased coordination while sucking
