Lucas et al developed a classification for the urgency in performing a caesarean section. This uses 4 categories, which is more specific than the use of a 2-tiered system. The authors are from Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, St. Michael's Hospital (Bristol), Hammersmith Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary, Poole Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital in the United Kingdom.
