Lewis and Rorabeck classified femoral supracondylar fractures proximal to a knee replacement. The type of fracture can help determine the optimum management strategy. The authors are from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.
Exclusion: The fracture involves the shaft of the femur proximal to the knee prosthesis. Involvement of the condyles or femur around the stem is classified by another scheme.
