Description

Jaimeson classified patients with portal vein thrombosis (PVT) based on the distribution of venous thrombosis. The type of thrombosis is important for determining appropriate management. The author is from Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, England.


Patient selection: portal vein thrombosis

 

Venous involvement:

(1) portal vein trunk

(2) superior mesenteric vein

(3) splenic vein

 

Additional parameters:

(1) degree of occlusion

(2) collaterals
