Valid information is:

(1) factually correct

(2) can be confirmed

(3) not misleading

(4) not manipulated

 

Information may be invalid if it does not meet the criteria for validity.

 

Information is inaccurate if it is incomplete or manipulated.

 

Information that cannot be proven or disproven is unsustained.

 

Types of invalid information based on intent:

(1) misinformation: not intended to cause harm

(2) disinformation: intended to mislead

(3) malinformation: intended to cause harm

 

Differential diagnosis:

(1) satire or parody
