Description

A hand that gets caught in a mechanical corn picker will suffer mutilating injury. Gorsche and Wood classified the injuries based on the number of digits involved. The type of injury may determine the management of the injury and its functional outcome.


 

Typical digital injury: amputation and/or devascularization (mutilation), usually near the joint between the proximal phalanx and its metacarpal
