Leroy et al classified an infection with a Candida species as isolated Candidemia or invasive based on clinical and microbiological findings. The authors are from multiple hospitals in France participating in the AmarCand Study Group.

• Normally sterile sites include peritoneal fluid, lung parenchyma, etc.
• A central venous catheter (CVC) was not considered a sterile site.
• An isolate from the blood and normally sterile site should be the same.
