Class 1 devices usually have access to an external power supply.

Class 2 devices include mobile phones.

 

The class is distinct from Bluetooth version which affects maximum speed in megabits per second and maximum range in meters (version 5.0 has maximum speed of 50 megabits per second and maximum range of 240 meters).
