Pressley et al reported a score for chest wall trauma. This can help to identify a patient who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from West Penn Allegheny Health System, University of South Caroline, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and University of Kansas.

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 2

• maximum score: 12

• A score >= 5 is associated with a worse outcome.

• A score >= 7 is associated with requiring intubation.
