Description

Rettedal et al reported the Charcot Reconstruction Preoperative Prognostic Score (CRPSS) for evaluating a patient undergoing surgery to correct Charcot joint of the foot or ankle. The authors are from the University of Pittsburgh, Washington Foot and Ankle Specialists and CNOS (South Dakota).


Patient selection: Charcot neuroarthropathy of the foot or ankle

 

Outcome: negative if wound or major amputation at final follow-up visit

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 10

• A score >= 4 is associated with a negative outcome (OR 7.3).

 

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve was 0.80.

• The sensitivity was 0.75 and specificity 0.71 at the cutoff.
