Changes seen in the chest X-ray in a patient with pleuropulmonary amebiasis:
(1) hump-like elevation of the right dome of the diaphragm associated with the hepatic amebic abscess, most often anterior on a lateral view
(2) wedge-shaped lung consolidation with base against the diaphragm and apex towards the hilum, with or without cavitation
(3) hazy, crescentic shadow over the right dome of the diaphragm
(4) pleural effusion or hydropneumothorax
(5) cavity under the liver (a) with air and (b) with or without a fluid level
(6) amebic abscess in either lung (secondary to hematogenous spread)
(7) nonfilling of the right middle lobe and/or basal segment of the lower lobe on bronchography
(8) decreased or absent diaphragmatic motility
