Description

Endometriosis of the cervix or vagina is uncommon and can present in an unexpected fashion.


Location:

(1) cervix

(2) vaginal vault or posterior fornix

(3) rectovaginal septum

(4) lateral or anterior vaginal wall

 

The focus may be associated with a vaginal hysterectomy scar.

 

Clinical features may include:

(1) pain

(2) bleeding which may present as pseudomenstruation

(3) polypoid mass

 

Complications:

(1) malignancy

(2) fistula
